Antique French Opaline Egg-Form Casket

This beautiful antique French casket features a blue opaline glass egg hand-decorated with gold and white flourishes. It has gilt metal detailing, and sits above a beveled glass trinket box with a peacock blue velvet interior. A tiny butterfly sits on top of the egg, which opens to reveal a small interior compartment. There is a small chip to one corner of the beveled glass, as pictured. Otherwise, it presents beautifully. This may have been a perfume and jewelry holder or for sewing pieces. Approximately 5.75 in tall x 3 in wide x 3.5 in deep.
